I completed my formal study of photography at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1974, but have found photography to be a lifetime learning experience. My interest has evolved from pure landscapes to the more interpretive vision, to paint with the camera capturing the beauty in our surroundings and the memories of places and people dear to our hearts.

I am fascinated by the old neighborhoods and wonderful architectural details that crop up in the most unexpected places. We travel through familiar streets of day after day, looking but not seeing. My desire is to present some of these images in a way that causes the viewer to take a second look at the familiar. Part of an overall goal of photographing and stylizing images to highlight the unique architecture and neighborhoods we live in.

Most of the images within this web site (known as Digital Photo Art), were created from photos I've taken within the last three years. I use computer software tools to mold the pictures into what looks somewhat like illustrations. I will remove distractions like telephone poles if it doesn't add to the image. In some images, the crooked telephone poles, crooked parking meters and the many electric lines are just so Pittsburgh that they just cannot be removed.
